This Privacy Policy explains how Sagehand ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the Sagehand mobile application ("the App").

We take your privacy seriously. Sagehand is built on a foundation of trust — the App is designed to help you think through deeply personal matters, and we understand the sensitivity of the information you may share with it.

Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

3. What Data We Collect

3.1 Data You Provide Directly

Name or nickname — if you choose to enter one in your profile
Email address — if you choose to provide one for account backup purposes
Profile photo — if you choose to upload one
Life Vision exercise responses — your answers to the visualisation questions
Life Vision analysis — the AI-generated analysis based on your responses
Strategy session content — messages you send to the strategist and responses received
Personal wins — any wins you choose to log
Preferences — your chosen settings including theme preference and notification times

3.2 Data Generated Automatically

App usage data — which features you use and how frequently
Crash reports — technical information if the App crashes, to help us fix bugs
Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version for technical support purposes

3.3 Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your precise location
We do not collect your contacts
We do not access your camera or microphone except when you explicitly choose to upload a profile photo
We do not collect payment card details — all payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store directly

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

To provide the core service — your Life Vision responses are sent to our AI backend to generate your personalised analysis. Your strategy session messages are sent to generate responses from the strategist.
To personalise your experience — your name, preferences, and Life Vision analysis are used to make the App feel personal and relevant to you.
To maintain and improve the App — crash reports and usage data help us identify and fix bugs and improve features.
To back up your data — if you provide an email address, we use it to enable recovery of your Life Vision analysis if you change or lose your device.
To communicate with you — if you contact us for support, we use your contact details to respond.

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your personal conversations with the strategist to train AI models without your explicit consent.

5. How Your Data Is Stored

5.1 Local Storage
The majority of your data — including your Life Vision analysis, strategy session history, personal wins, and preferences — is stored locally on your device.

5.2 Cloud Backup
If you provide an email address and enable backup, your Life Vision analysis is backed up to our secure servers hosted on Railway. This backup is encrypted in transit and at rest.

5.3 AI Processing
When you send a message to the strategist or complete the Life Vision exercise, your input is transmitted to our backend proxy server and then to the Anthropic API for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle data sent to their API. We recommend reviewing it at anthropic.com/privacy. We do not store your message content on our servers beyond what is necessary to complete the request.

5.4 Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) for all data sent between the App and our servers. However, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

Locally stored data is retained on your device until you delete the App or clear the App's data through your device settings.

Cloud backup data is retained for as long as you have an active account. If you request deletion, we will remove your backed-up data within 30 days.

Session processing data — messages sent for AI processing are not retained on our servers after the response is delivered.

7. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.

We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

With Anthropic — your messages and Life Vision responses are processed by the Anthropic API to generate AI responses.
With service providers — we use Railway for server infrastructure.
If required by law — we may disclose data if required by a court order, legal process, or government authority in Singapore or another applicable jurisdiction.
In a business transfer — if Sagehand is acquired or merged with another entity, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before this occurs.

8. Your Rights

Right to access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to correction — you can request that we correct inaccurate data.
Right to deletion — you can request that we delete your personal data.
Right to data portability — you can request your data in a portable format.
Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

9. Children's Privacy

Sagehand is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
